When Moving On is Your Last Option
Familiar with these words? No matter how hard and impossible to think that you can't overcome someone or something, there will always be a way for you to break free.
I once lost a brother who died from a cancer. He was a year younger than me. He was a responsible son and the smartest among us, siblings, as he had been a full scholar during his university days. He even had the characteristic of a "crush ng bayan, athletic, humble guy" in town and he was also an active guitarist/drummer in the church.
It was my first time to feel a fear in my life when he had diagnosed with stage-4 cancer. I couldn't imagine during that day that someone like him, an achiever will leave us and all his achievements are coming to an end. I even had the thoughts of comparing myself to him. A thought that I wish I was the one who had that illness instead of my brother as he was more valuable and gifted than me. He could have do more things than me, he could have contribute more to our family than me, he could have do amazing things in this world than me.
I questioned God why He allowed such suffering but I wasn't able to get an answer on those times because my heart and mind were closed. I only got the answer after 2 years when I kept myself busy in the ministry activities of our local church and I was encouraged by our pastor and fellow leaders to keep on listening to God's words through preaching and bible reading.
I also had a long term relationship with someone whom I thought he is my "forever" as what people say nowadays but we ended it up after 7 years to move on with our different directions and opposing priorities. You may think that life is unfair because you end up not getting your desires and you feel down for what you don't deserve.
However, there is someone up there, a God who has greater plans for each of us. He knows your worth and knows every strand of your hair ( Luke 12:7 "But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.") A God who knew us even before we were born ( Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you;"). He created each of us wonderfully to experience joy ( Psalm 139:14 "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well."
I know it is not easy to move on but apart from Jesus, we can do nothing. Not even your material possessions, intelligence or good works can save you from eternal damnation or hell. But you know what? He is near to you and gives you comfort according to His word in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed."
Before I finish this blog, let me share you again my 2 last verses which is found in the book of Deuteronomy 31:6
"Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
Life is not always easy but it is fulfilling if you have Him walking with you through hard times. He is a loving God when you just humbly draw near to Him as He said in His words in Matthew 11:28-30 "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
Remember these words when moving on is your last option. ^_~
